Busted

Trying the "Sugar Busters" plan again but forget to check some things that really ought to be safe--at least, in my mind! My husband bought a platter of deviled eggs from the store for the SuperBowl. I usually make my own but he knows the kids like them and he was buying other snacks.

So, now that I've snagged quite a few for myself over the past two days--now...I look at the nutrition info and ingredients. Sugar AND corn syrup. Both. In deviled eggs. Why?

hmmm...that does make you wonder if they add that to everything anymore. I have no idea why they would put that into deviled eggs. I know when I make mine, I don't add those ingredients. Good luck with "Sugar Busters". It can be tough to start (and stick with).

Ick! No kidding. I think they add corn syrup to stuff as kind of a preservative.

Joey,
Thanks. It's worked well in the poast--just haven't done it in a while. Not TOO tough--except for remembering what all is "legal" or not. The memory ain't what it used to be! :(
Tracy,
That must be it.
"Sugar Busters" is a good reminder--Americans as a whole didn't have such weight issues before so many "convenience" foods. (Joey, that part is tough--you just have to remember that most fast food items and boxed/instant stuff is pretty much out.
The eggs surprised me though--I knew they were "done" and I know deviled eggs are, by definition, not low-fat but I thought they were sugar-free! Just a reminder that even when it comes to eating--if you want something done right, you have to do it (make it) yourself!
