I don't sew. Costumes I make look a lot like Charlie Brown's ("I had a little trouble with the scissors.")So I'm going as...me. That won't work for the kids but I don't want them to end up uttering another famous line from the show, ("I got a rock,") so they have store-bought (or rather, internet-bought) costumes.
