I signed on with a group, headed by Angela to try to write a novel in 3 months. I did not quite manage 50,000 words in November but I was sure I could pull it off with so much more time.
It is dangerous to think that way.
The deadline is 3.5 hours away and I think it is safe to say that I will not reach 50,000 words tonight.
While life always happens (and I will always have excuses), I do have 43,506 words.
I am not proud that I did not make my goal again. Having said that, I am not too unhappy, either. Trying to sell a house, get enough rest during the first trimester of pregnancy and finish a book was too much---but I did get some quality writing done and found my characters in much more interesting conflicts than I had planned.
I did not make my goal but I'm on my way to finishing a better book; I'll take it!

43,506 words is better than 0! Call it a full and busy life and congratulate yourself.
You are a very busy woman, and a busier Mom . Try to get some rest. Your body needs it. Maybe I will get that quilt made yet!! I've been given another chance!!!! Hope you are feeling all right. A. N.
that's still great output. And don't you find if you're writing more pages, you get much deeper into the characters?
Those pages on top of preggo brain is very impressive!
That's awesom! Don't discredit yourself. I could never write during the first trimester (that puking on the keyboard tended to interfere). I think you are doing amazing work.
Impressive! Did you know that a pregnant woman's body at rest is working harder than a person climbing a mountain? It's no wonder you didn't finish those last 6,500 words. You were a little busy!
btw, i changed my blog to

Well done! That's a lot of words.
Tracy,
I will, thanks! :)
Nancy,
I'm trying to find a way to put my feet up while I type! ;)
Kacey,
Thanks! I do feel like I know the characters much better and they've headed in directions I had not imagined...so it was successful...I just can't quit now!
Rene,
I'm more worried about drooling on the keys...as in, this looks like a fairly comfortable spot to take a power nap! ;)
Kellie,
I was unaware of that but I feel like I've been hiking uphill!! Thanks! I won't feel so unproductive next time I sit down to read a book for a while!
Mary P,
Thanks! We'll see how many I keep but it's moving along!
Are you kidding me? 43,500 words is AWESOME! Well done! Now don't let yourself put those remaining 6,500 words on some backburner. Set a new date right now and finish that puppy! And then set a date for editing, and one for sending it off, because after 43,500 words you are clearly a person who responds excellently to a deadline. You've done so well, now make the rest happen, too!
Chosha,
Thanks! I'm working on it!
